Greece’s carnival season, known as Apokries, is a time of festivals, feasts, drinking, and dancing.
Traditionally, it begins ten weeks before Greek Orthodox Easter and culminates in a feast the weekend before Lent, where people eat no meat or animal products for 40-days.
The Greek name Apokries means abstention from meat, so how do we celebrate? With music, dancing and a lamb feast for hundreds of people!
